Originally, Parlementia was a hill facing the ocean between two Basque villages, Bidart and Guéthary. In the 17th century, whale hunters disputed the waters until they decided to settle their differences by parleying at the top of the hill.
The hill had no name, so it was honored by being named Parlementia. A chapel, named Saint Joseph, was erected there to serve as a parliament between the two villages and to welcome all those who were not accepted elsewhere.
At the end of the 20th century, Parlementia gave its name to the beach - and then, when surfing arrived in France, to the mythical wave that unfurls offshore.
It is also the name of our Coastal Lifestyle brand, born in 2009 in Guéthary, in the heart of the French Basque Country. Our first shop/workshop is located overlooking this reef wave, renowned for its long rights and its ability to catch large Atlantic swells... directly visible from the shop!
Inspired by the Atlantic, a serene lifestyle, and a cutting-edge musical universe shaped by its founder, the brand merges oceanic culture and contemporary sophistication. The creativity of our graphics, retro nods, and assumed nonchalance shape our identity!
